Something interesting happens on busy days at nature and leisure car parks. The car park is full, solar panels generate plenty of power, yet feeding electricity back into the grid may be unattractive or restricted.
Why not charge parked vehicles intelligently?
At leisure and nature locations, vehicles are often parked long enough to schedule charging. Not every vehicle needs to charge immediately at maximum power.
- use locally generated solar energy more effectively;
- reduce dependence on feeding power back to the grid;
- offer more charging capacity within the existing grid connection;
- provide a more attractive service for visitors.
Energy and parking in one platform
Within SPARC, we are exploring smart charging based on parking duration, available energy and grid capacity. Parking, access, charging and energy management then become one coherent process.
